Tis a few days after Christmas now and I hope those that celebrate this time of year did indeed have a nice time? Or at least managed to get through it without killing anyone....
Twas a pleasant time in my household, apart from the fact that the sister and I both have an horrendous cough and sound like demonic sealions. It didn't start off all that well, as the sister and fiancé's car broke down a couple of hundred miles away and they nearly had to go all the way home, but the AA (car breakdown dudes) stepped in and got them a courtesy car, with the promise of towing the broken car down here by the Saturday.
Christmas Day was a quiet day, we all chilled out till early afternoon, then headed to the local Indian restaurant with a break from tradition by eating food someone else cooks for a change. It was lovely and the first time I have truly enjoyed food on Christmas Day for a long time.
Boxing Day was the day Terrence the already dead and humongous Turkey got cooked, it took all day, but was worth it. Although if I eat any more turkey and stuffing, I may get labelled as a biohazrd.....
Sunday night the sister and I headed out with some friends and drank cocktails, wore wigs, false taches and daft glasses. This probably didn't help with the whole being ill thing, but it temporarily relieved the symptoms, booze tends to do that, oh and good company.
The rest of the time has been taken up by coughing, feeling horrid, coughing some more and you can get the gist of it. Just got to get the sisters car sorted before we can ship them back to the Highlands of Scotland, then operation clean up will begin and the new year will roll in.
The thing that has alleviated some of this horrid cough and sinus issues has been my new neti pot, something I have been meaning to get for beards now. Well it arrived on Christmas Eve and I got a bit excited about using it, if you have sinus issues like me, you would get excited too.
If you miss more regular posts from me (who wouldn't?) Then I am still updating my photographic 365 project daily, just click the lovely flower in the sidebar or here
Next post will probably be a waffling round up of the year that was 2009.

Glad to see you're still here anyway. Think yourself lucky, I had the gut wrenching (almost literally) vomiting bug.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Claire!
ReplyDeleteI have one of those sinus thingies and I ♥ it. They are great help. :)
Happy New Year Claire! *waves a starry firework thingy in the air* Hope you're feeling better!! I was sick during Xmas -_-''...but now it's going okay, only a nose and eye problem. I blame the cold! I know what you mean by sounding like a demonic sealion (hmm Aspot related...heheh)...the timing sucks indeed to be sick during the Holidays.
ReplyDeleteBut let's hope to feel better soon!
Take care! Ciao Xx
Happy New Year. I hope you feel well enough to enjoy any celebrations.
ReplyDeleteThe neti pots are great - a bit weird to use, but it really helps.

ReplyDeleteHey, happy new year to you, you poor stuffy sealion! What yum did you have at the Indian place? I'm always looking for new dishes to try.
ReplyDeleteI want to see pictures of you in the wigs and staches.
I put up full instructions for Hogmanay so everyone has time to hunt down a dark haired man carrying whiskey, bread and coal. Also all lyrics to Auld Lang Syne with translation. Hop to it.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon.
Good read. I'll try some Indian restaurant out, have been wanting to for a while now. Joe's working tonight and my back has been hurting for three days. I really strained it, lifting. Oh well. Hope you recover fast, that your sister gets home safely and your Mum is doing well. Happy New Year to you and yours. See you next year.
