Thank you for including my blog in the 2000 roundup. It's nice to be included in such great company. You do have a lovely blog with lots of variety and I truly enjoy visiting here.
BTW I am more and more convinced that Mr. Linky is boozed the last two days. This morning it was not a link to the bible page, but to a weather forecast ! I wonder what comes next !
Thank you for the great comments, Sarge Charlie and E'bee where correct in assuming i took (well friend took it!) it on one of my hikes! If you click Hike categories and it was on the day i went to Baslow. The sun came out when we came down off the hills, it was lovely! This is yet another reason why i love hiking, i get to see all these cool places and there is never anyone else there, because its too cold for them. After visiting other, blogs especially the ones with lots of snow, i realise how lucky i am living here. Now i know people love the bridges will try and look out for more on my future hikes!
Sorry that I am a day late but it's been a busy couple of days! Anyhow, it's pictures like this that make me want to cross the pond, as it were, and be able to spend some time in your country. It looks absolutely gorgeous!
I wrote this poem some years ago. I thought of it immediately on seeing the tranquil photo of the bridge.
Idlehour
A crossing spans a mountain stream, Above the waters swift and clear. Made well of stone and wooden beam, The bridge stands fast throughout the year.
And here the stream runs quickly past The slender trees that line her sides. Through dappled shadows gently cast From branches where the sunlight hides.
So touched by constant wind and sun The stream flows down from mountains high. Until her fleeting time is done When all her days have wandered by.
And in her wake no other sound Will break the quietude profound.
Claire,
